About
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Mercedes Dorson is a New York City based artist who started out as a book restorer, bookbinder and paper marbleizer in São Paulo. Her paintings focus on capturing the changing light and color around her. An avid traveler, many of her paintings are done "en plein air" as well as in the studio.
Mercedes has a BA from the University of Pennsylvania, and has studied under Robert Cenedella, Kenneth McIndoe, and Margaret McCann and Ronald Landfield at the Art Students League of New York.
